What’s the Total Cost of Getting a Website Live in Nigeria, Everything Included?

Most website quotes tell only half the story. The build fee is the headline number, but getting a site live involves other costs that catch business owners off guard when nobody mentions them upfront. Here’s the full checklist.

The Costs Behind a Live Website

  1. Design and build. From ₦75,000 for an AI-built site to ₦250,000 to ₦650,000 for WordPress, and from ₦2,500,000 for custom software.
  2. Domain name, roughly ₦8,000 to ₦25,000 per year. The price depends on your domain name extension (TLD). For example, .com (commercial), .ng (Nigeria), .org (organization), .net (network), .edu (education), .gov (government) .com.ng, etc. Make sure it’s registered in your name and with your email.
  3. Hosting, roughly ₦20,000 to ₦150,000 per year. This also depends on what type of hosting your project requires. Hosting is where your site lives. It affects speed and uptime, so don’t cut this completely, but you don’t need the most expensive option. It all depends on the project. For example, you shouldn’t host a huge e-commerce marketplace or an enterprise software platform in the hosting environment meant for simple business websites.
  4. SSL certificate. The padlock and “https” that stop browsers warning visitors. The price is often included with hosting; but confirm instead of assuming.
  5. Professional email. An address like info@yourbusiness.com looks far more credible than a Gmail address on your site or card. It’s important to know how much is available to you from your hosting provider, and all related costs.
  6. Content, logo and images. If you don’t have professional photos or written content, budget for them or prepare them yourself.
  7. Basic SEO setup. A one-time foundation so Google can understand your site. Ongoing SEO is a separate, recurring service.

What’s Included in Our Plans

AI Built plans bundle most of the extras. Starter (₦75,000) and Growth (₦100,000) include a 1-year free domain, and hosting (managed hosting on Starter, dedicated cPanel hosting on Growth). Starter includes 1 company email, Growth up to 4, and Pro (₦150,000) up to 5. So the year-one price is close to the price you see.

WordPress plans (₦250,000, ₦450,000 and ₦650,000) include design, mobile and speed optimisation, forms, WhatsApp and social links, basic on-page SEO, and security hardening on Portfolio. Domain and hosting are included at no extra cost to you for 1 year.

A Realistic First-Year Total

  • AI Business Starter: about ₦75,000
  • AI Business Growth: about ₦100,000
  • AI Business Pro: about ₦150,000
  • WordPress Landing Page: about ₦290,000 to ₦425,000 if domain and hosting are billed separately
  • WordPress Portfolio: about ₦490,000 to ₦625,000 on the same basis
  • WordPress Platform: about ₦690,000 to ₦825,000 on the same basis

From year two, expect renewals for domain and hosting. Ask any agency for the renewal price before you sign, so there’s no surprise invoice a year later.
