WordPress powers a big share of business websites in Nigeria and also globally, and for good reason: it’s flexible, well supported, and you aren’t locked into one company’s platform. But “WordPress” isn’t one price. What you pay depends on how it’s built and what you actually need it to do.
Why WordPress Quotes Vary So Much
WordPress itself is free. What you’re paying for is:
- Design and setup time: turning a blank install into a branded, working site
- Theme and page builder: many agencies, including us, use Elementor Pro
- Plugins: forms, SEO, security, speed, payments
- Hosting and domain: sometimes included, sometimes billed separately
That’s why one quote can be ₦300,000 and another ₦600,000 for what looks like “the same thing”.

Typical Market Pricing
- ₦150,000+: a freelancer using a free theme with light customisation. Cheap and quick, but limited polish and support.
- ₦300,000+: a professional agency using a template-first Elementor setup. This is where most legitimate small business WordPress sites land.
- ₦1,000,000+: fully custom development for unusual functionality.
Do You Even Need WordPress?
Honestly, not always. If you only need 1 to 5 pages that tell people who you are and how to reach you, an AI-built site at ₦75,000 to ₦150,000 may do the job, and it’s delivered in 24 to 48 hours.
Choose WordPress when:
- You want to edit pages, add blog posts or change prices yourself
- You plan to sell products, list properties or run courses
- You want a stronger SEO foundation and room to grow
- You want to move hosts or developers later without starting over
Is a Template-Based WordPress Site “Less Professional”?
No. A well-customised template with your brand, content and photos looks the same to a visitor as “custom”. What matters is the execution.
What to Budget
If you need WordPress, ₦250,000 upwards should cover for most small and medium Nigerian business needs, depending on whether it’s a landing page, a portfolio or a full platform. If your needs are simpler than that, don’t pay for WordPress you won’t use.
